All-volunteer organization recently secured $ 12,500 for June 16 painting of West Side
Brush Up Buffalo, a not-for-profit, all-volunteer organization focused
on revitalizing City of Buffalo neighborhoods, recently secured $ 12,500
in sponsorships. The donations will help to fully finance Brush Up
Buffalo 2007, an annual event where nearly 700 volunteers repaint about
a dozen low-income homes in the city. This year’s event takes place on
Saturday, June 16 in the West Side along Plymouth Avenue, Hudson Street
and surrounding streets.
Recent sponsors include:
- The Wendt Foundation – $ 5,000
- Bank of America – $ 2,500
- Capital Management Services – $ 2,500
- M&T Bank – $ 1,500
- Malcolm Pirnie – $ 500
- UPS – $ 500
"The board of Brush Up Buffalo is truly thankful for
the corporate sponsors," said Roseann Scibilia, president of Brush Up
Buffalo. "Without them, the event wouldn’t be possible. The money helps
covers paint, supplies, insurance and food. Their generosity is a huge
blessing for the organization and the homeowners we serve."
Additional sponsors and in-kind donors to date for
Brush Up Buffalo 2007 include Allstate ($ 5,000 sponsorship), Heart of
the City Neighborhoods, Eric Mower and Associates, Full Circle Studios,
Buffalo Business First, clevermethod, Irish Classical Theatre Company,
Damon & Morey, HSBC and 360 Professional Services Group.

Since its inception in 1996, Brush Up Buffalo
volunteers have revitalized 10 neighborhoods in the City of Buffalo,
painting more than 200 homes altogether. Last year, in approximately
five hours, more than 600 volunteers painted 18 homes in the Lovejoy
District.
