Brush Up Buffalo, a not-for-profit, all-volunteer organization focused on revitalizing City of Buffalo neighborhoods, is seeking another 150 volunteers for its yearly event on Saturday, September 18. More than 250 volunteers have registered to date, but it will take a total of 400 to repaint 15 homes in the Kensington-Bailey neighborhood.

At least 25 volunteers are needed to paint on each house. Teams from local organizations are encouraged to sign up at www.brushupbuffalo.org. Once registered online, volunteers are asked to meet at the Erie County Medical Center at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 18. Brush Up Buffalo will provide each volunteer a t-shirt, breakfast, transportation from ECMC to houses, drinks on site, some supplies, and a lunch upon completion.

Brush Up Buffalo also encourages volunteers to bring ladders to the event if possible. There is no cost to participate, but volunteers must be at least 18 years old. This year’s event is the 14th in the organization’s history, and designated painting avenues this year include Poultney, Elmer, Thatcher and Comstock.

Sponsors for Brush Up Buffalo 2010 include the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, the Margaret L. Wendt Foundation, Bank of America, International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council #4, Citizens Bank, M&T Bank, Painting and Decorating Contractors of Buffalo, Damon Morey, Harter Secrest & Emery, Malcolm Pirnie and UPS.
